Lesson Progress: 28.01.13

In this lesson, we have set a date for the filming of our opening film. 
We are planning to film during February 2013's half term: 
- Monday 11th February 
- Tuesday 12th February 
We have been planning for about a month now, and we have finally come to a halt with our planning where we are now happy to film.
We are setting the film in March. We have identified a location for the film to be set at. Also, we have been lucky enough to get a room in the March town hall, where we have now planned to 'blackout' the room to create an interview/interrogation atmosphere. 

Lesson Progress: 25.01.13

In today's lesson, we have finalised the script and unploaded it successfully. Also, me and Chris have added to our shot list, having now 13 different shots. I feel we have now got a final draft of the shot list.

I came home from work at 5:30, then I got changed, put some food in the oven. After I ate I watched some T.V, maybe for about an hour and a half. Then I started to read, prehaps I read for an hour, maybe more. After that I did some work on my compture. Then I went to bed.

Lesson Progress: 22.01.13 - (shot timings)

In this lesson, I am drafting how long each shot should take. The timings, I feel, will aid us when shooting the film, and more importantly the editing process. By adding 'timing' structures to our shots, we can also get an idea for what other shots or cuts are needed for the forthcoming shots. In brackets (next to the shot number) are the draft timings - in seconds - which we have assigned to the shots. I feel being time specific with the shots will be beneficial to our group so I have added times to the shots shown below: FIRST DRAFT

Synopsis

Synopsis of Opening Film

Our scene will start with an actor running with the camera, to give a handi-cam effect... After this the actor will fall down and the camera will be filming an iluminated wall. The shadow of the actor will be scene on the wall, we will then see another shadow enter and attack the first actor. Then we will cut to an interview, and the auidence will believe this person to be the murderer. Then the interviewee will be asked to recounted his action of a specific night; then we cut to an establishing shot of a building and in the bottom corner of the scene there will be a piece of text saying that this is the night he is recounting. The the murderer will drag the body though the building and throw it on the floor, we will then cut back to the interview for another question, and while he is answering we cut back to what he was really doing in the building, with a voice over from the isuspect. The final shots are the interviewee leaving the building and walking away.

Lesson progress: 17.01.13

In today's lesson, we have uploaded our working partner's film research and also we have been discussing and planning the soundtrack for our film. We have come to a conclusion that I will be composing the score for the soundtrack for our group's film. I will aim compose a typical style of the genre ' crime horror'. I have been 'brainstorming' various musical ideas of what particular features the soundtrack could have. Stereotypically, I feel an 'eerie' style of music would be appropriate, but also tensional (low-pitched) drums played at certain times throughout the opening of the film.

'Scream': Film Research - Christopher Crowther

I feel Chris has sufficient research in this particular film to develop ideas from. Scream, I feel, uses effective conventions that are true to the genre of a thriller/horror film, that we intend to be making. The convention of 'loneliness' I feel is effective that we could develop or use in our film. The women in the house that feels isolated and lonely in the house, then finds out she is not alone could certainly be used in our opening sequence. 

I feel Chris has gone into great detail with the analysis of the researched film he has chosen.

In today's lesson, we constructed our story boards and resumed progress on our planning stage of the film. We added to our 'Camera Shot List' that allows us to develop ideas of our film. We have received some useful information from our teacher today; instructing us that we could add shot durations to our storyboarding so that we get an idea of how long each shot should be and make the stage of 'editing' easier.
Our group has discussed the film planning in depth, such as the location of the filming, and analytically deciding in what way the scene should be shot.

Preliminary Task - Film Brief

Our Preliminary Task consisting of various shots of opening a door and an exchange of a few lines of dialogue. The basic plot of this story was Aohdan (played by Aidan Cave) is interviewed by DI Bob (played by Chris Crowther) on evidence that Aohdan was involved in a drug-deal that consequently ended in a murder. We used such shots as: shot reverse shot, over-the shoulder-shot, side tracking shot, close-up, extreme close-ups, mid shot.
